Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola and his political rival, Senator Iyiola Omisore, on Saturday prayed together at the Catholic prayer mountain, Oke Maria in Otan Ayegbaju, Headquarters of Boluwaduro Local Government Area of the state.
Omisore, a devout Catholic had gone to the prayer mountain for the annual pilgrimage of Catholics in Osogbo Catholic Diocese while Governor Aregbesola also attended the vigil which lasted for several hours.
Both of them according to sources at the mountain prayed for victory in the August 9 governorship election. While Omisore is contesting the governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aregbesola will be re-contesting on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).
Both politicians had in the recent times attacked each other on the forthcoming gubernatorial poll in the state.
Sources at the mountain informed that Omisore got to the mountain at 1.45am, while Aregbesola arrived an hour later and both sat on the front row.
In his homily, the Catholic Archbishop of Ibadan and administrator of Osogbo Diocese, Most Reverend Gabriel Abegunrin, who drew inspiration from the book of Corinthians charged the two politicians to see politics as a means of serving the people.
