Consequent upon the case filed by a faction of the Labour Party in Ogun State challenging the leadership of Otunba Gbenga Daniel and some decisions of the National Leadership of the party, a twist has occurred in the case as one of the claimants and the suspended Chairman of the Labour Party in Ogun State, Comrade Olabode Simeon has through a notice of discontinuance pursuant to Order 23 Rule 2 (1) of Ogun State High Court prayed the court to discontinue the suit against all the defendants therein.
Following this development, the case has been struck out by Justice Olanrewaju Mabekoje of Ogun State High Court, Isabo this morning. The claimants, through their counsel Barr. Olayinka Omosanya asserted that they are no longer interested in pursuing the case while Dr. Yemi Oke, counsel to the defendants urged the court to dismiss the case while reminding the court that two out of the seven claimants; Comrade (Mrs.) Janet O. Olayombo, the Women Leader and Comrade Mufutau Adekogbe, the State Organising Secretary had earlier deposed to affidavits of withdrawal as sixth and seventh claimants respectively. It will be recalled that the National Leadership has suspended the embattled Chairman, Comrade Olabode Simeon for flagrant disobedience of the party’s directives pending his appearance before a disciplinary committee:-pset up by the party. However, with this development, it is now clear that peace and sanity has finally returned to the party with all members vowing to work as one indivisible entity under the leadership of the former governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel to reposition the party and lead it to victory in the forthcoming election.

Deputy State Chairman,
