Ogun Court Slams N200, 000 Bail On 2 Men Over Theft Of N200, 000 Motorcycle


An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday slammed a N200, 000 bail each on two men, who allegedly stole a motorcycle valued at N200, 000.

The accused — 29-year-old Sam Emmanuel and his 33-year-old accomplice, Gabriel Fadahunsi — had pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Magistrate, Mr Martins Akinyemi, who gave the ruling, also granted the two accused a surety each in like sum.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Moshood Hammed, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Sept. 26 at Aro area of Abeokuta.

He alleged that the accused conspired and stole a Bajaj motorcycle valued at N200,000, belonging to their neighbour, Peter Jonah.

The offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.

Further hearing in the case has been adjourned to Dec. 22.(NAN)
