Parents in Northeast no longer send girls to school– Ezekwesili

Former minister of education and Bring Back our Girls campaign organizer, Obiageli Ezekwesili has said the circumstances surrounding the abduction of over 200 Chibok girls had begun dealing a devastating blow to girl-child education in the north east geo-political zone.
Speaking in Lagos during a programme organised by the United States Consulate marking the 2014 International Day of the Girl Child, Thursday, The ex-Vice-President of the World Bank said that the majority of the parents in the region are now of the view that sending their girl-child to school involves making a decision between “being alive or getting educated.”
The inability of the military authorities to bring back the Chibok girls, she said, was discouraging parents in the geo-political zone to send their daughters to school.
